The tour bus dropped us right in front of the Mendenhall Glacier visitor centre from where one can get a clear view of the glacier. There is a documentary movie played at regular intervals. There are a few hiking trails leading up to the nugget falls, to the glacier itself, the salmon stream where there is good chance of spotting black bears feeding on salmons. Though we saw lots of salmons, we had no luck in spotting a hungry bear. The Glacier though was beautiful to watch and so were the salmons.

If you can take a tour to see the Mendenhall ice caves that would be another memorable experience i am sure. We didn’t because of the very long hike involved in it.
